"I know about and have academic career skills."

These include understanding the publication process, administration, applying for funding opportunities, and teaching experience. These are important if you’re intending to purse an academic career but can also be translated into other employment areas.

There are several offices within the University which can help you with these academic processes, including the Research Operations Office, Finance Division, Office of Scholarly Communication, and the Research Strategy Office. The Cambridge Centre for Teaching and Learning is where you need to go for information on developing your teaching.

You can also develop these skills through courses run by the RDP and your own Department and School. Finally, the Careers Service can also provide assistance in developing these skills, and your experiences during your PhD will also contribute.
