"I know the possible ethical and legal requirements within my project and field needed to complete my research successfully."

Whether working with animals or humans there is a strict code of ethics and set of legal requirements which you must abide by in order to complete your PhD. Even if your research does not involve working with animals, there will be safety regulations surrounding your work, whether working with genetically modified organisms, using dangerous chemicals or equipment, or undertaking fieldwork.

You must also have a solid understanding of the copyright law surrounding the use of images, quotes and references in your papers and thesis.

You can acquire this knowledge through training led by your Department, Faculty or School. The Research Integrity branch of the Research Strategy Office also runs an Introduction to Research Integrity at Cambridge workshop. You should also be learning good scholarly practice from your colleagues.
