Researcher Development Programme

Researcher Development

Researcher Development provide a suite of workshops and events to support research students from all disciplines across the University of Cambridge. This provision is intended to complement that of the Schools and Departments, so that you can develop the skills you need to be successful in your research in the short-term, and in whatever career you progress on to afterwards.

The development opportunities provided by Researcher Development are designed around the Researcher Development Framework (CamRDF), which was developed specifically for Cambridge research students.

Where to begin?

We highly recommended that all research students complete the Skills Analysis Survey at the beginng of their studies and each academic year. This is an online resource designed to introduce you to the CamRDF, assess your own skillset against the core competencies, and identify target areas for improvement.

Where next?

Once you've completed the Skills Analysis Survey, you should investigate our full programme of courses for research students. This will help you to plan out your researcher development. If you're really not sure where to start, check out the PhD Pathways page for a suggested framework.
