Researcher Development Support
We offer individual thirty-minute sessions to support you in your development as a researcher.
They are intended to address questions arising from a workshop, provide advice on planning your development, and review what you have done so far to signpost further appropriate support and development.
Before booking, please consider whether another University service might be more appropriate to your need:
- You can always contact your College Tutor for advice and pastoral support (get in touch with your Tutorial Office if you are unsure who your tutor is)
- We offer one-to-one writing tutorials with an RLF Fellow
- The Postgraduate Wellbeing Service offers one-to-one appointments
- The University Counselling Service offers therapy
- The Careers Service supports you with career planning, applications and interviews

Fair Use Policy
We aim to enable as many students as possible to meet a member of the Postgraduate Education & Development team within a reasonable period of time.
In order to be fair to our many users we limit any individual to three appointments per term.
Thirty minutes is the standard allocation of time for an appointment, though this can be extended up to fifty minutes.
We may need to limit appointments further when periods of high demand occur, to enable us to meet our aim of supporting as many students as we can.
To make the best use of your time and that of the Postgraduate Education & Development team, please ensure that the topic of your appointment relates to researcher and/or personal and professional development. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Reflecting on and considering where you are in your studies
- Efficiently and effectively managing your time
- Discussion of RD course content and material
- Self-management, resilience and coping
- Guidance on working remotely
- Advice on managing reading and writing
