Postgraduate Researcher Development

We've provided below some examples of successful applications for funding to illustrate the types of activities that you might consider and how we award funding.

Unconscious Bias

"Unconscious Bias refers to the biases we hold that are not in our conscious control. Research shows that these biases can adversely affect key decisions in the workplace. The session will enable students to work towards reducing the effects of unconscious bias for oneself and within one's organisation. The session will help them to explore the link between implicit bias and the impact on the organisation. The overall aim of the session is to provide participants with an understanding of the nature of Unconscious Bias and how it impacts individual and group attitudes, behaviours and decision-making processes."

Research Methods

"Course will introduce radical methods pioneered by critical interdisciplinary researchers, activist artists and grassroots community organisers to revitalise grassroots research in elite universities, towards institutional healing and reparative futures. We have planned a unique programme of multi-format activities with a mix of carefully selected practitioners and specialist speakers. The methods include: utopian; reparative; abolitionist. We intend to open conversations about research sustainability within and beyond academia, aimed at postdoctoral, early-career and doctoral researchers in the arts, humanities and social sciences, as well as scholars across other disciplines interested in trying out these methods. Hence, this training is not only about developing research skills, but also nurturing attitudes towards life-long research."
